This excursion takes us to the shores of Lake Lugano in Switzerland (passports required) to Campione d’Italia, an Italian enclave which became famous after the building of its Casino in 1930.

The town has several important artistic monuments and our visit includes the Sanctuary of the “Madonna dei Ghirli” with its fascinating cycle of frescos dating back to the 14th , 15th and 16th centuries. We also visit the tiny oratory in the centre of town dedicated to St. Peter.

Duration: 3 hours

Notes: This excursion can be extended to a full day by combining it with a visit of Lugano, or any other interesting town in the Ticino region of Switzerland.
